Azzurro Artisan Glacier

Azzurro has run the artisanal register in Vieux Nice since 1996 (the family has been making gelato since 1983). Fifty seasonal flavours, cones made on site, milk and fruit chosen for the day. Voted second-best ice cream in France in 2014; honoured by Gault & Millau every year since 2016. The room is small, the queue moves, the gelato survives the walk down to the rocks.

The pistachio (Bronte, when in season) is the order; the season tells you when.
