Rue Saint-Michel

The pastel pedestrian street that defines Menton shopping — Italianate facades, the lemon-product maisons (Herbin, Gannac, Au Pays du Citron) lining the way, glaciers, tabac-presses, small boutiques. The city's actual shopping circuit, walked south-to-north from the Bastion to the cathedral steps.

Walk it south-to-north before 11:00 — the morning light hits the facades cleanly and the cruise crowds haven't landed.
