Cros-de-Cagnes — fishing village & seafront

Before the resorts, Cagnes was a fishing village, and Cros-de-Cagnes still is at heart: brightly painted pointus on the pebble beach, the small sheltered port, fishermen's chapels, and a long seafront promenade lined with the kind of plage restaurants the Niçois drive over for.

Walk it east at golden hour — the light comes off the water onto the painted hulls.
